“ The line was out the door, but we were willing to sit outside in 40 degree weather with the wind blowing tears from my friend's eyes to get a taste of the mouthwatering confections fresh from this patisserie! Despite a long line, I waited maybe 5 minutes to order my cream puff (words CANNOT describe this perfect combination of flaky choux pastry, custard, and whipped cream) and chai latte! Wow! Best chai latte I've had in DC! I also purchased some blackberry jam and hazelnut butter to recreate a favorite treat! The only thing I wouldn't recommend: DON'T eat the puff in public. It is messy but so worth it! ”
“ I absolutely adore this place! This is one of my favorite places to go for a sweet treat (they also have delicious savory options). The stuffed croissants are so amazing and are better than anything you'd try at a regular bakery. The pistachio and almonds flavors are my go-to items, along with a bag of chouquettes (just do it, it's too good). Most people go for the chocolate ones and those are good but I think you'd find a new favorite with the other ones I listed. I think their coffee based items could be a bit better because the espresso seems a bit burnt sometimes but that 100% does not subtract from the rating because the pastries are just that good. The line can get pretty long sometimes and it's a small location so sometimes you wait outside but the staff is really efficient and quick so you're never waiting for long. If there isn't seating and it's a nice day, I like to take my items across the street to the dupont circle park. ”
“ I recommend to try, but the only reason I didn't give a 5 star was because the [recommended] chocolate croissant with some type of filling was a little too done/burnt. I believe I would have preferred the classic chocolate croissant. The Apple Tart was fine. It didn't taste fresh. Maybe the Apple turnover would've provided the soft croissant I was seeking. Service: very nice. Ambiance: nice, but can be a little too crowded if you arrive during the rush. ”
“ A cute little space with excellent pastries. I tried their coffee pain au chocolate and it was incredible. Well balanced sweetness with the bitter coffee notes in a flaky croissant shell. The cafe doesn't have a ton of seating so plan accordingly. ”
“ This is one of my favorite French patisserie - their filled croissants easily steal the show anytime, being far superior to any I've had near here. They also have caneles which I also like - sometimes they can come out a bit more burnt than usual though, so keep an eye on it - but even when it is, the flavor still shines. They're known for the merveilleux, which is great - I tried the praline ones and it was superb. Their coffee is just okay by itself in my opinion, but do make a good pairing with the offerings. Service is friendly and quick. Ambience is a bit too crowded as it's usually hard to find inside seating. ”
“ I've come here twice and it is quite simply excellent. One of my favorite things about going to Europe and not just France is the quality of bread, cheese, coffee and pastries. These pastries are legit up there with some of the best I've had overseas. I was highly skeptical to see others say this-I mean there are people who say Slice & Pie is a great example of NY style pizza-but this is actually truly the real deal. Absolutely worth not just going to but going out of your way for. Americano is solid too! ”
“ This bakery is so French. It's super tiny, but has lots of seating and tons of incredible desserts on display. The cute anthropomorphic deer is super nostalgic to the 2010s in a very charming way. It's a cozy shop with lots of things to pick from. We came on a weekend, so this is probably part of why it was super packed. We ordered two pain au chocolats and some coffee. I got a very delicious cafe mocha. I wish I had known the small was extremely small, that was my fault. The drink was half a takeout cup's worth of coffee. I would've ordered a bigger size, it was so good. I was a bit disappointed by the pain au chocolats, they were a bit drier than I had hoped for, but still good. I'm excited to return and try more goodies. ”
“ This is one of my favorite bakeries in DC! Mostly for their croissants, which are to die for. But I've tried a lot of other desserts over the years, like pistachio Paris Brest, fruit tarts and cakes and everything has been consistently delightful! It is a real French bakery which means the desserts are just the right amount of sweetness/not too sweet. They have wonderful bistro tables outside that you can sit at when you want to pretend you are in Europe and have your morning coffee and croissant! ”
“ This is a really tiny and busy spot! I certainly did not expect that 10 minutes after opening, all of the tables would be full and a line would be forming out the door. I certainly understand the hype. Service was quick and efficient. Everyone was friendly and all of the pastries were presented in a basket, which was cute. We sat outside with it, along with my cappuccino, and it certainly reminded me a bit of the cafe culture in Europe. While the pain au chocolat may not have been the flakiest or best I've had in my life, the banana coffee croissant blew me away. I didn't realize this flavor combination could go so well together! There was a craquelin-like topping on top as well, which made it extra crunchy! The apple tart was also flaky and delicious. I feel like European-style bakeries this good are hard to come by. This might be my new favorite spot in Dupont! ”
“ This cute French pastry shop in downtown is a must-visit--you can smell the freshly baked croissants and bread from a mile away!! There isn't much seating inside so try to avoid busy times. Side rant: My visit left me feeling a bit disappointed though. Despite the rave reviews, the staff messed up my order. Their system seems a little disorganized; one person takes the order, while another picks out the pastries, and they mistakenly gave what I ordered to the people behind. They sell out quickly due to the high demand, which made it all the more frustrating. But the staff were very apologetic and offered us the chocolate croissant and panna cotta on the house, which totally redeemed the experience! Anyway, I'm still going to give it four stars because the croissant was freshly baked, buttery, and perfectly flaky, and the mango panna cotta was creamy and heavenly. If I ever return to DC, I'd definitely give this place another try!! ”
